Pope Francis has Benedetto Rodrigo Santoro among the crowd of San Pedro Square

The actor played Christ in a film when he managed to approach Francis and lived a special moment

On April 15, 2015, Rodrigo Santoro realized the dream of many Catholics: to receive the blessing directly from the hand of a Pope.

The actor was in Italy to film the film “Ben-Hur”, in which he played Jesus Christ when he went to the Vatican. He was lucky to be in a point in the square of San Pietro where Francisco stopped to serve the faithful.

Smiling, the Pope made the sign of the cross on the santoro forehead. Years later, in an interview with “Entcntro”, the actor called himself “spiritualized”.

“I always appreciated it. He comes from my grandparents. A grandmother is very Catholic, who is Italian. My father is Italian, born in Italy and came as an immigrant in Brazil,” he said.

“My grandmother from my mother comes from a spiritual religion. So I have always had very close (of spirituality).”

At Globo, Rodrigo Santoro distinguished himself to live the friar Mrestus in the 1998 miniseries “Hilda Hilda Hilda”. The character faced the temptation represented by the prostitute of the title, the role of Ana Paula Arósio.
