Pain! Pedro Bial’s mother dies after having done 101

Pedro Bial reported, this Friday (4 July), the death of his mother, Susanne Bial, occurred a day after he turned 101. The information was shared by the same journalist through a publication on his Instagram account, in which he made an emotional tribute. “A very vivid life of a lot of struggle, a lot of joy, very pleasure, encounter and listening”, wrote Bial.

Born in Berlin, Susanne was born on 3 July 1924 and immigrated to Brazil with her family in 1934, fleeing Nazi Germany. In Brazil, she graduated in Psychoanalyst and was a family next to Pedro Hans Israel Bial, also German, who arrived in the country in 1940. Together, they had three children: the journalist Pedro Bial, the basketball coach Alberto Bial and the psychotherapist Irene Bial.

In fact, Susanne’s trajectory was the subject of the oma documentary, launched in 2024 by his nephew José Bial, Pedro’s son. The short, available at Globoplay, saves Susanne’s memories and experiences during the century. According to the synopsis, the work brings together conversations that turn from theater and from the Holocaust to music and dictatorship, revealing the signs of their experience.

At the time, José Bial explained the reasons for the creation of the documentary, who was born from the desire to have his grandmother “to tell stories forever”. “My root, my reference, my style, my instinct, my floor and my sky,” he said.

However, the cause of death has not been disclosed. Susanne’s farewell has generated confusion on social networks, with the support of various personalities, such as Eliana, Fatima Bernardes, Angelica, Lilia Cabral and Tata Werneck, who left messages of solidarity with the journalist.

The presenter and comedian Tata Werneck left the following message of Pedro Bial: “Dear! A huge kiss! I remember the beautiful way I was talking about her.” Jean Wyllys, former deputy and writer, wanted “my feelings”, the same message sent by Margareth Menezes, Minister of Culture.
