A British saw his older brother again after five decades without contact. Peter Macdonald, now 58 years old, was separated from his family when he was only ten weeks. He grew up in an orphanage after being taken by his father in a railway station inside England while his mother was trying to escape to London with his two young children.

I will be aboard Peter and Trevor, then two, when his father appeared on the platform. He snatched the boy from his mother’s arms just before the train went away. He tried to take the eldest son, but Trevor hid behind his mother. The train followed a journey and the family never met again.

“I never saw my mother again. It was the last time I was with my brother Trevor. I always wanted to meet him,” Trevor Al Daily Mirror said.

Peter discovered Trevor’s existence only at the age of seven. Since then, he has held the search for his brother, who has always been in his memory. He married, he had two daughters and four grandchildren, but he could not share his life with his brother. His wife, Julie, died three years ago.

The meeting was possible only now thanks to the family program lost by British time. The production was able to identify Trevor, today Carpenter, and also informed Peter that their mother had died in 2008. The older one said that the woman asked at the end of her life to seek her brother. “I’m doing it for me, for him and our mother,” he said.

“The first thing that passes through your head is anger. You ask: why? Why did you leave me? Why didn’t you come back? After discovering that she was dead, I thought of leaving the program. I felt that I could not continue, because I was afraid of what it would happen, perhaps, I was able to discover that Trevor had also died – and I didn’t want to look for anyone else,” Peter said.

The meeting took place in London and coincided with his mother’s birthday. Peter, who became a painter, cried before seeing his brother again and did not contain the emotion as he embraced him. During registration, Trevor showed old photos and Peter was surprised by the similarity of his mother with his daughters.

He said he does not intend to let the relationship get lost again. “I will visit you more often,” he said.
