Amber Heard changes lawyer for the second round against Johnny Depp





Actress Amber Heard has changed her team of lawyers. After filing an appeal against the defamation lawsuit ruling won by ex-husband Johnny Depp, the actress tried to renew her team for the second round of the litigation.

According to TMZ, he hired the Ballard Spahr law firm in hopes of obtaining new information as it reviewed the case and the evidence in the lawsuit. The attorneys who will lead the actress’s team are known for representing the New York Times in a libel case brought by Sarah Palin, former Alaska governor and Republican presidential candidate in 2008.

Amber’s former attorney Elaine Bredehoft said in a statement that it was the perfect time to “pass the baton” to lead the case.

The actress’s new representatives also said, “We welcome the opportunity to represent Ms. Heard in this appeal, as this is an important case for the implications of the First Amendment in the country,” said David Axelrod and Jay Ward Brown. , citing the amendment defending freedom of expression.

In early June, Amber was found guilty of writing an article in the Washington Post claiming she was a survivor of domestic abuse. In the decision, the jury ruled that the actress should have paid her ex-husband $ 10.35 million ($ 10 million in damages and $ 350,000 in punitive damages), but found the actor also defamed his ex. , his wife in fighting her charges, by awarding Heard $ 2 million in damages, in effect only slightly reduced the actress’s debt, which fell to $ 8.35 million.
