French influencer Ilan M., known on social media as Amine Mojito, has been condemned for his pranks simulating syringe attacks on strangers on the streets of Paris.

He was sentenced by the Criminal Court to 12 months in prison, of which six months in prison, for “violence with weapons which did not result in incapacity for work”; the other six months were considered “suspended”.

This way Ilan will only serve half of his sentence, as long as he doesn’t commit another crime again. There was also a fine of 1,500 euros (around R$9,300) and a ban on keeping or carrying weapons for three years.

At 27 years old, the influencer has 131 thousand followers on Instagram and 18 thousand on Tik Tok. In court, according to the New York Post, the man explained that he “knew nothing” because he was in “his own world.” He also said he chose to make the videos to copy what he had seen in other countries.

“I had the terrible idea of doing these pranks by imitating what I saw on the internet, in Spain and Portugal,” he admitted in court. “I didn’t think it could hurt people. That was my mistake: I wasn’t thinking about others, I was thinking about myself,” he said.

He also stated that the goal of viral videos was simply entertainment and trying to make people laugh.
