The situation that gave reason to talk occurred on the 14th in Santa Rosa, Rio Grande do Sul. During the monologue The extraSolano noticed he was being filmed by a person in the audience and quickly moved his cell phone away from the stage. The moment made the rounds on social media and opened the debate on the use of devices in the theater and the actor’s behavior.

A week after the fallout from the case, Solano decided to break his silence. In a sequence of videos on Instagram, the artist addressed the topic in an ironic tone.
“Attention, more than a special statement. I finally come to the public to clarify the controversy of last week. After all, Brazil and the world stopped to comment on the most famous slap since the ‘panther slap’. Yes, the slap that speaks to you,” he began.
According to Solano, the controversy was important to put the use of cell phones during a theater show on the agenda. “I thought it was nice to be able to, through this controversy, raise the issue a little bit about the lack of education of the audience and the limitations of each other, the audience and whoever is on stage,” he said.
“The one thing I couldn’t wait to say, but I decided to let the dust settle, is that I didn’t slap anyone, not on the cell phone, much less anyone. What I did was act like a fool and, quickly, I took the cell phone, stole the cell phone and threw it under the chair,” he continued.
The actor also claimed that he could prove that there was no type of assault, as he was also filming the show to send it to director Miguel Thiré, who lives in Portugal.

“From time to time we have to film the show to send it to the director so he can direct me. Tell him: ‘Look, there you won, here you lost’. And wasn’t it the day of the ‘slap’ that we were filming? So I have proof that I was a ninja. I managed not to stop the show, not to take away my cell phone which was bothering me and causing this controversy,” he explained.
Finally, Mateus posted a video from a new angle, which shows him taking the cell phone from the audience member and placing it on the floor.
