The mother escapes from prison and reports her son

The scenario of violence and deprivation of freedom that took place in a house in the São João neighborhood, in Volta Redonda (RJ), was abruptly interrupted thanks to the courage and determination of a mother. Civil police officers from the Women’s Assistance Police Station (DEAM) have arrested a man accused of carrying out a series of brutal attacks and keeping his mother in a private prison.

The victim, in a desperate attempt to survive, managed to escape from her home last Sunday, the 19th. She took advantage of a crucial moment, her attacker’s sleep, to look for the women’s assistance police station. His first report triggered immediate alarm among the agents of the Civil Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro (PCERJ), who acted with extreme urgency.

The woman’s testimony revealed a routine of terror that had lasted for almost a week. She specified that her son, a drug addict, kept her locked in the house, isolated from any external contact and deprived of freedom. The situation culminated in episodes of extreme physical violence, which led her to fear for her life.
