Dado Dolabella admits assault episode: “I recognize it”

In an interview on Record’s Domingo Espetacular program, broadcast this Sunday (2), the actor Dado Dolabella publicly admitted, for the first time, that he had attacked the actress Luana Piovani in an episode that occurred in 2008. The declaration puts an end to years of contradictory versions on the case, which had great repercussions at the time and marked the artist’s career.

During the interview conducted by Roberto Cabrini, Dado initially tried to downplay the episode, stating that “there were mutual attacks”. Then, however, he acknowledged: “I attacked, I attacked, I recognize it.”

The 45-year-old actor said the fight started at the end of a party. According to him, he insisted that the couple leave, as he needed to work the next day. “It was already three in the morning, I needed to record and I asked us to leave. She said: ‘just one more song, just one more beer’. At some point I decided to go alone,” he said. According to Dado, Luana grabbed his arm and he reacted sharply:

“His nail went into my arm, and in an attempt to free myself, I did this,” he said, demonstrating the movement. “My hand grabbed her tightly and she fell. I was a coward, because the strength of a man and a woman is disproportionate.”

Dado Dolabella justified the failure to pay compensation by citing the lack of financial resources. During the conversation, the actor also commented on other accusations of violence against women, but denied being sexist: “I consider myself vegan, I consider myself a humanist,” he said.

The interview reignites the controversy involving Dolabella and Piovani. The actress, who currently lives in Portugal, preferred not to comment on the new statement. Concluding the statement, the actor said he was in a process of reflection and change: “I’ve been trying to rebuild myself, look at my mistakes and become someone better.”
