Actress Anne Heche wrote a new autobiography last year, in which she shared her memories of the various stages of her life, but in particular her relationship with Ellen DeGeneres in the late 1990s, when she formed one of the Hollywood’s first openly gay couples.
“I was labeled ‘outrageous’ because I fell in love with a woman. I had never been with a woman before dating Ellen,” writes Heche in an excerpt from the book, titled “Call Me Anne,” which Start Publishing will publish in January In the United States.
Star of films such as “Donnie Brasco” (1997), “Mere Coincidence” (1997) and “Six Days, Seven Nights” (1998), Heche died on August 11, at the age of 53, after an accident. car in Los Angeles. and she has had her career damaged by her relationship with DeGeneres.
She had already told of being on a Hollywood Black List for the relationship in a previous book, “Call Me Crazy”, published in 2001. The new book is not exactly a continuation, but a deepening of the previous one, in which the actress shared more details about this and other extraordinary facts from her life, which she was unwilling to discuss earlier.
“Personally, I never identified myself as a lesbian. I just fell in love! To be clear, she was as alien to me as anyone else. There were no words to describe how I felt,” Heche wrote in her book. “Gays were not appropriate, nor were they heterosexual. Alien might be the best solution, I sometimes thought. I would have liked to answer this if someone asked me why and how I fell in love with a person rather than his gender, but how I said before, no one has ever asked. I’m happy to be able to tell you about it in this book, once and for all. “
Heche said she was writing a memoir during a podcast earlier this year, in which she promised that “some of the truths” about her and DeGeneres would be included.
The book’s publisher, Jarred Weisfeld, says he signed a contract with Heche in May and delivered a manuscript shortly before he died. In the text, he also described having Harrison Ford as a mentor, as well as stories about Alec Baldwin, Ivan Reitman and Oliver Stone, among others.
Anne Heche also left five unreleased films, in post-production, and a final role in a series, “The Idol,” created by The Weeknd, which will be released soon on HBO.
