Twitter permanently banned a user who shared a racist video that allegedly “fixed” the “Little Mermaid”. The video transformed actress Halle Bailey, who plays Ariel, into a white woman. The change went beyond her skin color, also changing the actress’s features, sharpening her nose and other details.
Shared earlier this week by user Vandalibm, identified as Jesse Moriarty Erhard, the video caused widespread outrage on Twitter. During the post, the banned user did not take credit for the transformation, but praised the work, saying that the author “fixed ‘The Little Mermaid’ and turned the actress lacradora into a red-haired white girl. He can fix the whole movie … in less than 24 hours. “
It is worth noting that the video author’s account was not affected by the ban. The manager, who identifies as Dr. Walid PhD, has even published posts mocking the repercussions, including his trivial attacks on the LGBTQIA + community and posts on Islam.
In his defense, Vandalibm claimed to have re-released the video for educational purposes, to show that Dr. Walid PhD to work with computer graphics and artificial intelligence. One user replied: “Extremely educational to demonstrate your racism.”
