The character Ted Lasso, played by actor Jason Sudeikis in the series of the same name, will make his debut in the world of games. Lasso and his fictional team AFC Richmond will be part of the “FIFA 23” game, developed by EA Sports.
The developer has released a trailer showing Lasso’s debut in the soccer game franchise. In the video, you can see the real characters of the series praising the technician. And finally, we see the digital version of Lasso and AFC Richmond players on the pitch.
“I am truly fortunate and deeply grateful that I have had many special moments in my career so far, and I consider this experience to be among the best,” Sudeikis said in an official statement. “As a longtime fan of EA Sports ‘FIFA’, having Ted Lasso and the entire AFC Richmond roster incorporated into the latest version of the game is truly a dream come true for me and the rest of the guys.”
The “FIFA” franchise is known for incorporating real teams into the game. “FIFA 23”, however, will also feature fictional characters Ted Lasso, manager Beard and players Jamie Tartt, Dani Rojas, Sam Obisanya, Roy Kent and Isaac McAdoo, as well as the team’s home stadium.
“It’s so good to be in ‘FIFA’,” said actor Brett Goldstein, who plays Roy Kent on the series. “I’m not sure this will help dispel the CGI rumors, but fuck it, it’s worth it,” he joked, referring to the Internet “theory” that Kent is a digital character and is not played by a human being.
FIFA 23 will be released worldwide on September 30 for PlayStation5, Xbox Series X | S, PC, Stadia, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Created by Bill Lawrence (“Scrubs”), Joe Kelly (“Detroiters”) and Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard player), “Ted Lasso” tells the story of a football manager (Sudeikis) who is hired to lead traditional football , even without knowing anything about the rules of the game. Slowly he begins to conquer everyone with his positivity.
Winner of two Emmys for Best Comedy Series, “Ted Lasso” is an exclusive production of the Apple TV + streaming service and is currently developing its third season, yet without a preview date.
