Princess Diana couldn’t wear this thing during her marriage to Prince Charles – and it’s not a matter of royal protocol!

The secret to the Queen of Hearts’ style is simple in her own way – she knew exactly what suited her, strictly adhered to the royal dress code (so feminine and elegant), not forgetting to bring a drop of her own personality.

Yes, yes, during her marriage to Prince Charles, Lady Dee preferred shoes with flat soles or not at all high heels. The reason for this was the growth of the spouses, which for both was about 175 cm (in different sources this value varies from 173 to 178 cm).

With the same height, wearing high heels, Diana would dominate the future king, which hit his self-esteem. “For many years Diana wore shoes with heels no higher than 5cm out of respect for her husband’s ego,” wrote Eloise Moran, author of The Lady Di Look Book.

“As the royal’s self-confidence grew, her heels grew taller. Jimmy Choo recalled that at the start of their seven-year friendship, Diana always ordered flats, then, when her marriage took place. began to collapse, the heels became higher, at first they were up to 5 cm, then up to 7.5 cm, then they reached 9 cm, then up to 9.5. just got bigger and bigger,” Moran wrote, citing the shoe designer’s comments in Richard Kay’s 1998 biography Diana: The Untold Story.

In some staged photos (like engagement photos) Prince Charles looked much taller than Princess Diana (because he was standing on a step) – this was done on purpose to preserve the roles of traditional genre – wife BEHIND her husband.
