Actress Julia Roberts unveiled a little-known and surprising detail about her life, saying that, when she was born, her parents didn’t have the money to pay the childbirth bills in the hospital and she was the famous black activist to pay the costs. Martin Luther King Jr. and his wife, Coretta King.

Julia told the curious story when she was interviewed by Gayle King for the show “HISTORYTalks”. “My parents had an acting school in Atlanta and one day Coretta Scott King called my mom and asked her if her kids could enroll in the school because they had a hard time finding a place that would accept them,” the actress began.

“My mother said, ‘Sure, come.’ And everyone became friends and pulled us out of a difficult situation.”

The interviewer recalled: “In the 1960s, there were no black children interacting with white children in drama schools.”

Pastor Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the leading political activists in the United States, who became a symbol in the country for the promotion of the non-violent struggle for civil rights (racial equality). He was murdered in 1968 by a racist.
