The nomination of the magazine “People” has taken place every year since 1985; Denzel Washington was the first African American to receive the title

the American magazine people announced this Tuesday, 8, that he had chosen the actor Chris Evans how the sexiest man in the world in 2022.

The title has been granted annually by the vehicle ever since 1985 to artists and media personalities who were on the rise at the time. Since, 36 men and a couple also received the magazine nomination, but only five of them were black.

The first African American to be named the sexiest man in the world was the actor Denzel Washington in 1996. The top of the list was only occupied by a non-white man 20 years later, when Dwayne Johnson received the appointment in 2016.

Only in that same period, George Clooney And Johnny Depp received the title twice, respectively in 1997 and 2006 and in 2003 and 2009.

Brad Pitt And Richard Gere have also been elected twice, with the actor from A beautiful woman won the “Sexiest Couple Alive” nomination with his then-girlfriend, the model Cindy Crawford.

After The Rock, the people chose the singer Blake Shelton as the sexiest in the world and then crowned black men for three consecutive years: Idris Elba (2018), Giovanni Legend (2019) and Michael B. Jordan (2020).
