Responsible for bringing laughter to generations of viewers, Roberto Guilherme, immortalized by the character of Sergeant Brush, passed away this Thursday, 10, at the age of 84. The actor, suffering from cancer, was hospitalized at the São Vicente clinic, in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro. Roberto Guilherme leaves his wife, Sheila Nunes, with whom he had been married for 56 years, and his children Willian and Valeska.

the beginning of the career

Roberto Guilherme was born in Ladário, Mato Grosso do Sul, on August 20, 1938. At the age of 14, already residing in Rio de Janeiro, he started playing football as a left winger for Vasco da Gama. At 18, he served in the military and became a paratrooper sergeant. But he didn’t quit soccer, playing for the Brazilian military soccer team. Representing Brazil, he played in the United States, England, Panama and Colombia and was South American champion in the category. While still in the army, he wrote an amateur play staged at the Olaria Atlético Clube. Then one day an actor was absent and Roberto Guilherme had to replace him. A producer saw the show and invited him to audition for TV Rio. His television career began there.

In 1963, the former actor went to TV Excelsior, where he met Renato Aragão. Among the various programs in which he starred on the net was “Os Legionários”, in which he played a soldier who had no name, but was the embryo of Sergeant Brush. It was on TV Record that Roberto Guilherme played Sergeant Pincel for the first time, in the program “Quartel do Barulho”. Thus, he began to collaborate with Renato Aragão in the show “Praça da Alegria”. In 1969 he went to TV Tupi, where he was on several programs.

At the invitation of Wilton Franco, he returned to Record, to work on the program “Os Insociáveis”, which brought together Didi, Dedé, Mussum and the singer Vanusa in the cast. In 1975 the troupe moved to Tupi and Zacarias became the fourth member of the group. “Os Trapalhões” appeared. Incidentally, Roberto Guilherme was also part of the program, with secondary characters. The attraction ran until 1976.

At SBT, Roberto was part of his initial cast, starring in the first online comedy show “Reapertura”, in 1981. In the attraction he played several characters, certainly demonstrating his versatility in giving life to different types of comics and in making the audience laughs.

In the same year Roberto Guilherme starts working in TV Globo, where he participates in programs such as “Viva o Gordo” and “Balança Mais Não Cai”. But, without a doubt, it was with “Os Trapalhões” that the actor was immortalized in the memory of the public. From 1982 to 2013 he worked on several projects led by Renato Aragão. In 2015 he joined “Zorra”, where he remained until 2017. His latest works on television were “Treme Treme” and “Dra. Darci”, in 2018, both on Multishow. In cinema, Roberto Guilherme has starred in more than a dozen films. Most of them close to the Trapalhões.
