Singer Anitta said on Wednesday 16 that she doesn’t think “much about the competition”. The statement was made during a press conference in Las Vegas, USA. On Tuesday, the 15th, Anitta was nominated for a Grammy.

The award is the largest in the North American industry and will be held on February 5, 2023. The artist will compete in the “Best New Artist” category with other names, such as Maneskin, Omar Apollo, Muni Long, Tobe Nwigwie and Molly Tuttle.

“Since I decided to leave Brazil, not to leave completely because I still have my career in Portuguese, I release music in Portuguese… But, since I decided to focus on other languages, I felt like a new challenge, like a new adventure,” it began.

According to the singer, she didn’t expect to be nominated so soon and said that while her family, friends and manager were looking forward to the shortlist reveal, she wasn’t nervous as she didn’t care about the competition.

“I didn’t even know what was going to happen because I see everything as fun. My music is for people to listen to and dance to, enjoy. So, I don’t think much about the competition. I think it’s great to be part of a celebration like this, to participate in the awards, but it’s not something I work through thinking about. It’s not like a plan,” he said.

This year, the singer became the first artist to take the number one spot on Spotify’s Top Global and was the first to win other numbers outside of Brazil. Check out the singer’s full list of international hits in the video above.
