Alexandra Anastasia Lisowska is perhaps the most famous concubine in the world. All thanks to the series “The Magnificent Century” and personally Meryem Uzerli. The red-haired beauty conveyed the character of her character so coldly that the audience is sure that Hürrem was like that in life. Oh, how wrong they are!

According to the plot of the series, Roksolana, in order to survive in Suleiman’s palace, had to weave intrigues, push opponents with their foreheads and interfere in state affairs. On screen, she plays with the sultan’s feelings – especially for the benefit of her children. But all of this is far from the truth. Historians, having studied the correspondence of the spouses, believe that Alexandra Anastasia Lisowska really took part in state affairs, but only because she had deep knowledge and spent her free time not on intrigues, but on reading books. It is not surprising that Suleiman listened to his wife.

The main story of the series is that of the love affairs inside the harem. The series would not have been so successful without them. It’s funny that in reality Suleiman just scattered his whole harem as soon as he married Roksolana – he loved her so much. For the sake of the woman in his life, he even introduced a special title – haseki (that is, Mahidevran Sultan could not have this title, so this is another mistake of the series). It turns out that Alexandra Anastasia Lisowska had no rivals. Except those close to the sultan, who did not love his wife.

Was not a sex symbol and Suleiman. Halit Ergench, who played the sultan, fooled the audience with his looks. Many girls wrote that for such a master – majestic, muscular, powerful and handsome – they themselves would have fought. In reality, Suleiman was far from ideal. He was overweight, due to the constant presence in the saddle, his legs were deformed and his gait deteriorated, the sultan did not wear a beard, and – most interestingly – his height was only 165 cm (against 183 cm Ergench).

Thus, the series “The Magnificent Century” took only key historical facts as a basis. The filmmakers portrayed the era of Sultan Suleiman’s reign, in which they added a lot of fiction to create a truly impressive spectacle. And they did. But the truth had to be told!
