The band took a gamble on a Portuguese soap opera that didn’t attract audiences

The band has bet heavily on the screening of “Valor da Vida” (2018), but the Portuguese soap opera has not aroused the slightest interest from viewers. The storyline has been on the air for almost a month and is shown after “Faustão na Band”.

In the first three weeks, the soap opera averaged 1.3 points, with Fausto Silva’s program achieving around 2.1 points. “Valor da Vida” managed to reduce the number of viewers by 38%.

Band’s expectation was to achieve 2.5 points to compete with programming from SBT and Record TV, which fall short and do not record high numbers. However, the audience acceptance has been so negative that ‘Valor da Vida’ is even behind the audience of ‘TV Fama’, on RedeTV! – broadcaster that usually broadcasts most of its programming.

With low ratings on Kantar Ibope, the Portuguese soap opera is expected to air sooner than expected. With this objective in mind, the São Paulo broadcaster must reduce the production chapters – which are 203 chapters in all!

“Valor da Vida” has a cast made up of some well-known actors, such as the Brazilians Thiago Rodrigues (from “A Favorita”) and Marcello Antony (from “Fina Estampa”).
