‘Green Book’ actor Frank Vallelonga Jr. found dead at age 60




Actor Frank Vallelonga Jr., who worked on the film ‘Green Book: The Guide’ (2018), was found dead on Monday (11/28). Police found him lying outside a sheet metal factory in the Bronx, New York. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of death has not yet been released and there was no sign of trauma to the 60-year-old actor’s body, but police confirmed they had arrested a 35-year-old man named Steven Smith on charges of hiding a human corpse.

Vallelunga Jr. was the son of the late actor Tony Lip, nickname of Frank Vallelonga, who played mobsters in famous films such as “The Godfather” (1972), “Goodfellas” (1990) and “Donnie Brasco” (1997), as well as having played Carmine Lupertazzi in “The Sopranos”.

Tony Lip also inspired the movie ‘Green Book’. The film tells a specific passage in his life, when he worked as a chauffeur for a black musician in the year 1962, traveling with him through the racist south of the United States.

The role of Tony was played by Viggo Mortensen, while musician Dr. Donald Shirley won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for Mahershala Ali.

In the storyline, Frank Vallelonga Jr. played another relative, his real-life uncle Rudy Vallelonga. To top it off, the film was written by his brother, Nick Vallelonga, who won the Academy Award for best screenplay for telling the story of the family.

In his short acting career, Frank Vallelonga Jr. has also starred in the films “Um Brilhante Disfarce” (1994), “Eye by Eye” (1995) and “Cartada De Risco” (2006), all directed by his brother Nick, as well as to “The Signs of the Cross” (2005).) and “The Birthday Cake” (2021).

He has also participated in the series ‘The Sopranos’, ‘The Neighborhood’ and ‘Gravesend’. And he owned Tony Lip’s Italian restaurant in New Jersey.
