The famous lawyers filed for a new trial after losing their defamation case in June, according to a report.
According to the New York Times, attorneys for Amber Heard filed a new trial after the actress lost her defamation lawsuit against her ex-husband, Johnny Deppin June of this year. According to the report, the star’s representatives say the trial took place in a wrong state and protest the judge’s decision to ignore some evidence, such as documents signed by therapists that allegedly attest to the abuse suffered by the actress.
Amber Heard’s team has requested that the jury verdict be overturned by dismissing the actor’s charges or with a new trial. In June, the judge handed down a ruling ordering the actress to pay Depp $10.35 million in reputational damages for describing herself as a victim of domestic abuse in an editorial she wrote.
The star was also ordered to pay his ex-wife $2 million, with the jury ruling on the claim that Heard was defamed by one of Depp’s lawyers. However, in early November, according to Deadline, he appealed to the US court not to pay the compensation.
