The justification published in the Official Gazette says that Coldplay are “one of the most famous and important rock bands today” and that “the members’ relationship with Rio de Janeiro is remarkable, especially the singer Chris Martin”.
The parliamentarians also recall that the group has been several times to Brazil and to the capital Rio de Janeiro “with concerts highly appreciated by specialized critics and the general public” and an interview with Fantasticof 2021, in which Martin said that “playing in Brazil is like going to heaven, but playing in Rio is seeing all your dreams come true”.
The question will in any case be voted on by the parliamentarians and, in order to be approved, it must receive the signature of at least one third of the members of the Chamber.
