Actress Camila Queiroz (“Secret Truths”) will once again star in a Globo soap opera. According to the Notícias da TV website, she has been cast as the lead in ‘Amor Perfeito’, the station’s new 6pm soap opera – which will replace ‘Mar do Sertão’ next year.
Created by Duca Rachid (“Orphans of the Earth”) and Júlio Fischer (“In the Emperor’s Times”), the new telenovela will be inspired by “Marcelino Pão e Vinho”, a book by José María Sánchez Silva which has become a film in 1955, a huge success for Italian cinema, which earned director Ladislao Vajda (1906-1965) the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival.
The book and film tell the story of a boy who grew up in a monastery who dreams of finding his mother.
The soap opera will change the story a bit to show the conflict between Gilda (Mariana Ximenes, from “Ilha de Ferro”) and her stepdaughter Maria Elisa (Queiroz) for the power and love of a man. Fallen into the stepmother’s trap, the young woman will be arrested unjustly and will end up separated from her son, who will grow up an orphan of her.
Also in the cast will be Rafael Cardoso (“Save Yourself Who Can”), Rafael Sieg (“Invisible City”), Elzio Vieira (“Segunda Chamada”) and Guito (“Pantanal”).
“Perfect Love” will mark Queiroz’s reunion with Globo. In 2021, the actress entered into friction with the broadcaster because the recordings of “Verdades Secretas 2” were extended beyond what was stipulated in the contract, creating a conflict with her commitments to Netflix.
At the time, Globo considered the “contractual demands unacceptable” and chose to continue the soap opera without her, ending the storyline without the participation of the actress.
On Netflix, Camila presents the reality show “Casamento à Cegas Brasil” and stars in the series “De Volta às 15”, as well as having made the film “Procura-se” on HBO Max. Despite this busy schedule, she had already been flirting with a return to Globo and even participated in the “Altas Horas” program in October.
“Perfect Love” does not yet have a premiere date.
Camila Queiroz will be next in the second season of “Casamento à Cegas Brasil”, which will debut this Wednesday (28/12) on Netflix.
