Jeremiah Green of Modest Mouse dies at 45 from cancer

The drummer was diagnosed with the disease last December, the tumor was very serious, it was in the fourth stage

Jeremiah Greendrummer of the band modest mousedied this Saturday, 31 years old, victim of a cancer. According to a post made by her mother, Carol Namatame, on Facebook, the cancer was already in stage four, considered high risk. Green’s death was announced on the band’s official Instagram profile.

In a statement, the group mourned the death of their partner. “I don’t know what’s the easiest way to put it – we lost our dear friend Jeremiah today,” she wrote. “I wish I had a lot of nice words now, but it’s not time yet. That time will come later and through many people.”

The band concluded the text by reflecting on life and interpersonal relationships. “Please enjoy all the love you give and receive and give and receive. Most of all, Jeremiah was about love. We love you.”

On Facebook, the drummer’s mother reported that he died “peacefully” in his sleep. “Right now, the family needs privacy. More information will be released in the coming months, including a celebration of life for friends and fans,” Carol said. “We, the Jeremiah family, would like to thank each and every one of you for continuing to wish us well and supporting us through this time.”

Jeremiah Green was one of the founders of the band, which formed in the United States in 1992. The group is scheduled to perform in Brazil at this year’s edition of Lollapalooza. Since early December, Jeremiah had already signaled that he would suspend his participation in the Modest Mouse tour due to his chemotherapy treatment.
