through the stories from Instagram, reports that she was walking with her family in Philadelphia, when a man noticed that she was speaking Portuguese with his daughter and approached her asking if she was Brazilian.

According to his account, the man asked if Ingrid lived in the region. However, he said he was in Philadelphia on business.

“” He said, ‘Do you live here in Philly?’ Me: ‘No, I work here, I came to work’. He said this: ‘Cleaning? Cleaning woman?’. When she said this, she took me in such a way that I was in shock. In 14 years of living in New York, I’ve never spoken to anyone who thought that, being a black woman, I would be cleaning.”

Ingrid continues the report: “Look how crazy structural racism and the bottom of the pyramid is. It’s not crazy, everything is structured so that black people have no opportunity to grow or, when they grow up, they are not seen that way.”

At the end of the video sequence, the dancer leaves a message for white people to educate themselves about racism. “We’re tired of hearing these things,” he said. “This is for you to see, (…) because I’m a black woman, it was with this profession that he associated me, he didn’t associate me with a president, a CEO.”
