Why the Queen of the Netherlands went to prison in her youth – a life lesson

From early childhood, the children of royal families are surrounded by governesses and teachers – all so that the emerging monarchs receive a strict education and know how to behave. But sometimes they are wrong too. We tell you how a reckless act almost led the former queen of the Netherlands behind bars.

The former Queen of the Netherlands, Beatrix, was quite a mischievous child as a child and sometimes liked to misbehave. Once Beatrix and her sister Irene came home from school and decided to steal some fruit.

The police caught the thieves and took them to the police station. When they reported the incident to the girls’ mother, for a while, Queen Juliana of the Netherlands, she reacted unexpectedly. Instead of the proposed two hours, she recommended that police officers keep their daughters at the police station for three hours as an educational measure.

Lesson learned Beatrix perfectly. There were no more criminal stories in his life. For 33 years she faithfully served her people and on April 30, 2013 she abdicated in favor of her son, Prince Willem-Alexander, who leads the country to this day.

And this incident from her childhood is known from a letter that Queen Juliana later wrote to Beatrix’s godmother, Allen Tew.
