Cher, now 80, continues to perform in form-fitting outfits and has long credited her youthful appearance to good family genetics rather than any strict regimen. In an interview on Good Morning Britain, she said she does not try to look or feel younger, adding that she simply is what she is and that the genetics in her family are remarkable.
Her career spans more than six decades, from her years with Sonny and Cher through the global hit Believe. She has won both a Grammy and an Oscar, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2024, and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2026.
The workout behind the physique
During a past appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Cher revealed one move she has kept in her routine for years: donkey kicks. To perform the exercise, she explained, you start on hands and knees with a flat back and engaged core, then slowly lift one bent leg backward and upward with the heel aimed at the ceiling, before returning in a controlled movement and repeating on the other side.
Cher said she does three sets of 25 repetitions and also includes squats in her training. She has also admitted to enjoying Zumba, which she does alone at home using online videos.
Diet and consistency
On the food side, Cher has said she is not a big meat eater and avoids red meat and ham, preferring vegetables, fruit, legumes, and brown rice. She has described her approach as consistency over decades rather than any single exercise or strict diet.
Cher is currently in a relationship with 40-year-old Alexander Edwards. She has explained her preference for younger partners by saying that younger men are bolder and were raised by women like her, and added with characteristic humor that most men her own age are either dead or were always too intimidated to approach her.
