Spanish singer Dani Fernández will pause his music career at the end of his current tour following seven years of continuous performance and releases.
The artist explained that the hiatus will allow him to dedicate time to his wife, Yarea Guillén, and their daughter, Belice. He added that taking time away will help him savor a period of calm to make his future songwriting more precise.
Fernández, who will turn 35 before the end of the year, reflected on his rapid rise and career trajectory in an interview published this week by Spanish lifestyle website MujerHoy.com and reported by CADENA 100.
Nostalgia for boyband roots
Addressing his early rise to fame in the Spanish boyband Auryn, where he performed alongside singer Blas Cantó and other bandmates, Fernández admitted feeling deep nostalgia for that era. He recalled missing the innocent way he understood music when his only dream was to dedicate himself to the craft.
He explained that music has since become a demanding job involving responsibilities to a team, a family, and commercial outcomes. Fernández acknowledged that sales figures and streaming numbers are now constantly on his mind, expressing envy toward his younger self who focused solely on writing songs without worrying about the industry surrounding them.
Redefining success and staying power
Reflecting on his transition from a band member to a solo artist, Fernández stated that he began to understand the true meaning of success only after Auryn parted ways. He acknowledged that he previously associated success with fame and filling large venues, but realized over time that those achievements were not enough on their own.
Fernández defined success as career longevity and staying power, explaining that true triumph means reaching the age of 80 and still wanting to make music while audiences continue to buy records and attend shows. He emphasized that maintaining a lifelong career is far more challenging than filling a stadium once.
The singer also reflected on the concept of unsuccess, describing the decline that occurs when an artist is no longer at the top of the music industry. He warned that this downward transition can be dangerous if a musician misunderstands what it means to succeed, noting that today he defines success through his family, his loved ones, and the listeners who are moved by his music.
Fernández also spoke openly about emotional vulnerability, sharing that his deep connection to his music has led him to cry on stage on more than one occasion.
