Spanish singer David Bisbal has revealed that his upcoming album Eternos will feature a cover of the Julio Iglesias classic Quijote.
The announcement was made during a live festival performance in Bisbal's hometown of Almería in southeastern Spain. Bisbal debuted his rendition of the song on stage at the Cooltural Fest as part of his strategy of unveiling new tracklist details directly to fans during live shows.
Eternos is scheduled to arrive on digital music platforms on October 2. The project marks Bisbal's 25th anniversary in the music industry, showcasing the melodic maturity he has developed over a quarter-century career while paying tribute to iconic figures in Spanish-language music.
The track Quijote was composed by Julio Iglesias alongside Gianni Belfiore and songwriters Ramón Arcusa and Manuel de la Calva, both members of the veteran Spanish pop duo Dúo Dinámico. Bisbal highlighted Iglesias as one of the key artists who paved the way across the Atlantic for Spanish musicians now expanding their careers in the Americas.
Bisbal first rose to fame in 2001 on the Spanish reality singing talent show Operación Triunfo. Since then, the Almería native has become one of Spain's most prominent pop exports, winning multiple Latin Grammy Awards. Dúo Dinámico, formed in 1957, were pioneers of early Spanish pop and rock who composed hit songs for numerous international Latin performers.
Tribute tracks on Eternos
The addition of Quijote follows several previously announced tribute tracks for the upcoming studio album, which is scheduled for release following the summer holiday lull in new music launches. Bisbal first performed his interpretation of Camilo Sesto's Vivir así es morir de amor on March 28 during the annual La Noche de CADENA 100 concert organised by the Spanish radio station.
Other confirmed tracks for the album include Amor eterno, popularised by Rocío Dúrcal and written by master Spanish composer Manuel Alejandro, as well as Jeanette's Frente a frente. The record also contains Bisbal's versions of Nino Bravo's Te quiero, te quiero and Mexican singer José José's El amar y el querer.
These selections celebrate influential figures from across Spanish-language pop history. Camilo Sesto and Nino Bravo were among Spain's top ballad singers in the 1970s, while Rocío Dúrcal achieved international fame performing Mexican rancheras. Manuel Alejandro is widely regarded as one of the most prolific songwriters in the Spanish-speaking world.
Summer schedule and hometown tribute
The album recording forms part of an intensive summer for Bisbal, who has spent the season balancing festival dates with tour preparations and his work as a judge on the television show OT USA.
In addition to his concert schedule, Bisbal served over the weekend as the official herald for the festival of the Virgen del Mar, the patron saint of Almería, giving the opening address at her local sanctuary.
Following the event, Bisbal shared reflections on social media alongside photographs featuring his wife, Venezuelan model Rosanna Zanetti, whom he described as essential support during major milestones. He stated that giving the address in front of fellow Almerians at the sanctuary was far more emotional than he could have imagined.
In his prepared speech, Bisbal recalled his childhood, his parents, and his family. He spoke about the sea that brought the Virgin to Almería and recalled how his mother once placed a small image of the patron saint in his hands to accompany him on his travels.
Bisbal noted that every resident of Almería shares a personal story with the Virgin of the Sea. He described the gathering as a unifying occasion filled with tears, memories, and smiles, adding that he had to contain his emotions several times before finishing the event by singing to express his gratitude.
