Greek singer Dimitris Kokotas has died at the age of 57 after fighting a health battle for more than two years following a heart attack.
The musician suffered an acute myocardial infarction and cardiac arrest on March 28, 2024, during rehearsals for the television show Just the 2 of Us. News of his death brought widespread grief across the Greek artistic world.
Kokotas left behind a significant legacy in Greek song, marked by several major hits that remain popular today. Among the tracks most closely associated with his name was Anemona, a beloved zeibekiko that almost never reached the public.
In an interview, Kokotas revealed that his record company had initially objected to including Anemona on his album. Executives believed he was still too young to perform such a demanding and heavy zeibekiko.
