Disney+ has renewed its thriller series Furious for a second season, extending the show just one month after its premiere on the streaming service.
The decision comes ahead of the first season finale on August 31, 2026, following the psychological drama's debut at the end of July. Production of the series in the United States is handled by Hulu, the Disney-owned streaming platform, though Hulu has not yet announced a release date or launch window for the second season.
Cat and mouse thriller storyline
Furious centers on the tense pursuit between FBI agent Alice Black, played by Emmy Rossum, and a mysterious serial killer named Catherine, portrayed by Lola Petticrew. Agent Black finds herself torn between her sworn legal duties and the personal trauma of her past as she closes in on her target. Meanwhile, Catherine carries out a series of methodical killings rooted in her own history of violent experiences.
As the investigation progresses, the boundary between justice and revenge grows increasingly blurred for both women. Rather than presenting a conventional law enforcement chase, the narrative examines how trauma shapes human choices and explores the broader consequences of violence, depicting Catherine as a criminal whose actions stem from understandable motives despite crossing unjustifiable lines.
Production team and full ensemble cast
The series was created by Elizabeth Meriwether, who is best known for creating the television comedy New Girl and the biographical miniseries The Dropout, as well as Dying for Sex. Meriwether developed the show by taking the 1987 psychological thriller film Black Widow as its creative starting point.
Rossum, best known for her long-running role as Fiona Gallagher in the comedy-drama series Shameless, stars as Black and serves as an executive producer on the project. Details regarding Alice's next case in season two remain unconfirmed, as the direction of the storyline depends on how her final confrontation with Catherine resolves in the season one finale.
The first season ensemble cast also features Quincy Tyler Bernstine, Scoot McNairy, Jake Lacy, Rob Delaney, Hope Davis, Rob Yang, and Steve Way.
