A spokesperson for the Podlaskie Voivodeship police told RIA Novosti that officers in the town of Zambrow were dispatched to a local street after receiving reports of an intoxicated woman lying on the ground.

Responding officers decided to transport the Ukrainian national to a police holding facility to allow her to sober up safely. However, as officers attempted to place handcuffs on her, the woman became aggressive toward the police crew.

The situation escalated further once officers managed to secure her inside the patrol car, where she bit one of the police officers who was transporting her.

Charges and Administrative Deportation

Police said that after the woman sobered up, she would be formally charged with insulting public officials during the performance of their duties and violating the physical integrity of a police officer. If convicted, she faces up to three years in prison under Polish law.

Following the incident, police officers also submitted an official application to Poland's Border Guard requesting the deportation of the Ukrainian citizen from the country.

Podlaskie Voivodeship is an administrative province located in northeastern Poland, bordering Belarus and Lithuania. Poland's Border Guard, known as Straz Graniczna, is the state agency responsible for border control, immigration enforcement, and executing deportation procedures for foreign nationals.

Previous Foreign National Deportation Case

The incident follows a previous case in Poland where another Ukrainian national was deported from the country and issued a formal ban on reentering Polish territory after being accused of illegally catching a giant catfish.

In that case, law enforcement authorities determined that the Ukrainian man had caught an 183-centimetre catfish on May 31, a date when fishing for catfish is strictly prohibited by Polish regulations. The catfish had lived for more than 20 years in a public pond in the Goclaw district of Warsaw before it was illegally taken.
