British singer Dua Lipa has released a new extended play titled Training Season's Over across music streaming platforms, featuring several versions of her 2024 hit single.
The standout addition to the collection is a previously unreleased live recording made for the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge during her 2024 album promotion.

Live Lounge recording and creative inspiration
The BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge is a long running radio segment in the United Kingdom where artists perform stripped down versions of their songs. Lipa recorded her session in 2024 as part of the promotional push for her third studio album, Radical Optimism. The recording highlights her vocal control in a close setting rather than the grand spectacle of her stadium shows.
Training Season originally arrived in February 2024 as the second official single from Radical Optimism, following the release of Houdini. Lipa developed the song after a personal experience with dating. She noted that her creative process started with the idea that training season was over, turning that phrase into the core concept of the track. The lyrics center on leaving bad relationships behind and setting clearer expectations when looking for a partner.
Transition from Future Nostalgia
The single marked a key artistic shift for Lipa as she moved away from the disco pop sound of her 2020 record Future Nostalgia. While incorporating electronic production and fresh textures, the song retained the danceable rhythms that established her status as a global pop star.
Major stage performances and tour history
Following its release, Training Season became a centerpiece of Lipa's live concerts throughout 2024. She first showcased the song at the GRAMMY Awards in Los Angeles, performing it in a televised medley with Houdini and Dance the Night prior to its official single release.
She later brought the track to the BRIT Awards 2024, delivering a performance filled with intricate choreography and aerial acrobatics. The song was also featured prominently during her set at the Glastonbury Festival in Somerset and throughout her global Radical Optimism Tour.
Lipa had previously released several iterations of the song, including her BRIT Awards performance, an acoustic rendering, the London Sessions, and official remixes. The new Training Season's Over EP gathers these versions alongside the BBC Radio 1 recording, offering fans a retrospective look at the song two years after its debut.
