Gynecologist Ekaterina Volkova has outlined six advice points on Telegram for women who want to delay the onset of menopause and prolong their youth.
Writing on her messaging channel, Volkova stated that many women aim to delay menopause for as long as possible to maintain overall health and vitality.
Menopause marks the end of a woman's reproductive cycle, occurring when the ovaries cease releasing eggs and estrogen levels drop. Maintaining ovarian function can help sustain hormonal balance and delay age-related changes in the body.

Volkova explained that women must first keep inflammatory processes in the body under control. Systemic inflammation often stems from frequent colds, intestinal issues, or excess weight, and it directly damages the function of the ovaries.
For the same reason, the doctor urged women to minimize stress. High stress levels trigger hormonal changes that also negatively affect how the ovaries operate.
Controlling inflammation and stress
Chronic inflammation and elevated cortisol from prolonged stress can impair cellular repair and hormonal signaling throughout the endocrine system, accelerating functional decline in reproductive tissues.
The third piece of advice focuses on nutrition. Volkova recommended a balanced diet rich in vegetables, whole grains, fish, and vegetable oils to support cellular health.
Fourthly, Volkova stressed the importance of monitoring gastrointestinal health. She noted that symptoms such as constipation lasting two to three days, morning nausea, nausea after eating, bitterness in the mouth, and bloating indicate that the body is struggling to eliminate harmful substances. This accumulation ultimately harms the ovaries and the broader female reproductive system.
Dietary balance and digestive health
Fifthly, the gynecologist advised women to sleep in complete darkness for at least seven hours each night. She explained that melatonin, a hormone produced during nocturnal sleep, is closely linked to the balance of the hormonal system.
Melatonin acts as a powerful antioxidant and helps regulate circadian rhythms. Exposure to light at night can disrupt melatonin synthesis, which in turn influences pituitary hormone production and endocrine health.
Finally, Volkova urged women not to undergo surgery on their ovaries without a compelling medical reason. She wrote that surgical interventions reduce the reserve margin of the ovaries, affecting both the quantity and quality of eggs the body can utilize.
When considering procedures such as cyst removal, Volkova advised patients to carefully weigh the risks and benefits. Women should consult their doctors to determine whether continued observation is safe or if immediate surgery is genuinely necessary.
Sleep quality and surgical risks
The recommendations follow earlier guidance from gynecologist Marina Stepanenko, who warned women against shaving the bikini line while on vacation. Stepanenko cautioned that hair removal in holiday environments increases susceptibility to various infections.
