Italian singer Eros Ramazzotti has undergone vocal cord surgery, forcing the postponement of the American leg of his world tour until autumn 2027.
Doctors recommended a vocal rehabilitation program following the successful procedure, leaving the 62-year-old pop star unable to prepare in time for his scheduled concerts on the Una Storia Importante World Tour.
In a message to fans, Ramazzotti confirmed that the operation on his vocal cords went well and thanked his followers for their support. He told fans that they would meet again stronger and more united than before.
The revised schedule moves all planned performances across Canada, the United States, and Latin America into late 2027. The tour will now launch on September 24, 2027, in Toronto, before visiting Montreal, Boston, New York, Chicago, Miami, and Los Angeles.
The Latin American portion of the tour includes stops in Mexico, Bogota, Lima, Santiago, Buenos Aires, and Sao Paulo. However, planned concerts in Guadalajara and San Jose have been cancelled.
Rescheduled tour dates and medical history
Ramazzotti had previously alerted fans on social media in late June that he would need to undergo surgery again. He wrote at the time that he was not going to give up and that his priority was to rest and return in good health.
This is the second time the performer has taken a temporary hiatus from live shows due to vocal cord issues. In 2019, Ramazzotti underwent surgery to treat a thickening of his vocal cords, requiring about two months of rest and rehabilitation that temporarily interrupted his Vita ce n'e World Tour.
The singer has built a career lasting more than four decades on his distinctive voice. Doctors advised that protecting his voice required an extended recovery period before returning to live stage performances.
Four decades of international pop success
Ramazzotti first established his career at the annual Sanremo Music Festival in Italy, a premier song contest that launched many of the country's leading musical acts. He won the New Artists category in 1984 with Terra promessa, before returning two years later in 1986 to win the main competition with Adesso tu.
Over the following decades, he became one of the few Italian pop artists to achieve global success, building a broad fanbase across Europe and Latin America. His catalog includes hit songs such as Piu bella cosa, Cose della vita, Adesso tu, and Un'altra te.
Throughout his career, Ramazzotti has recorded duets with prominent international stars, including Tina Turner, Cher, Andrea Bocelli, and Anastacia.
With concert preparations paused for his rehabilitation, the singer's reunion with his audience is now set for autumn 2027 when his rescheduled world tour begins.
