John Paul Medina He went into detail about the health problems he experienced in July 2021, which saw him hospitalized for more than a month and led to the amputation of his right leg.
A year and a half after the complicated scenario he faced, the ‘Sick love’ actor spoke about what caused his blood clot.
Juan Pablo Medina, 45, recounted during his appearance on the ‘Cracks’ podcast with Oso Tavera that, in the middle of recording one of his projects, he began to feel terrible pain in his stomach and one of his legs.
The discomfort left him lying on the floor for almost an hour, until the production decided to take him to the hospital where his father worked.
He revealed that he didn’t know what was wrong with him and thought it was food poisoning he had eaten before he developed the symptoms.
Juan Pablo Medina regrets not being aware of his health condition
At the time, ‘Chespi’ (as his friends call him) was only thinking about getting back to work and not making a bad impression on the production team that was waiting for him. However, she was dealing with one of the toughest episodes of her life and regrets not paying attention to her body.
A series of clots infected his intestine and leg.
Juan Pablo Medina, who said he was blindsided by his work commitments, never imagined he had suffered a silent heart attack, which caused clots to form that invaded his intestine and one of his legs.
So Juan Pablo Medina made the decision to amputate one of his legs
Iñaki’s ‘I am your fan’ interpreter revealed that during his month in hospital he felt like he was ‘going away’, yet he had the faith to survive, even without one of his limbs.
Juan Pablo Medina confessed to Oso Tavera that death was never an option for him, instead he was fighting for his life. Moreover, feeling enveloped in the love of his family core made him confirm that he had to continue on his path.
That night he even had delusions, because he asked his brother (who is a doctor) “to take the leg, heal it and give it back to him.” Finally, after all this agony, he agreed to have his right leg amputated above the knee. This decision saved his life.
Among his upcoming projects, the actor wants to write his testimony to help other people who are going through a similar situation.
In addition, he said that this experience helped him “break the shell” and slowly open up to his audience and help those in need as best he can.
