Curtis has taken advantage of the night to launch his opinion on the recent controversy that put the so-called “nepo-babies” in the spotlight.
Jamie Lee Curtis won the Screen Actors Guild Award (SAGAwards) for Best Supporting Actress last nightfor his role in ‘Everything at the same time everywhere’. During her speech, the actress (visibly excited) he remembered his parents, thanks to a ring that accompanied him at the ceremony.
Curtis has used the night to Give your opinion on the recent controversy that targeted the so-called “nepo-babies”, also known in Spain as the “sons of”. The actress, who is the daughter of famous performers Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, took the stage and wanted to honor her legacy.
“I’m wearing the wedding ring my father gave my mother,” Curtis began by saying. “They hated each other, by the way. But my sister Kelly and I were born of love. My father was from Hungary and my mother from Denmark. They had nothing and became monster stars in this industry that they loved. My parents were actors.”
“I married an actor. I love actors, I love acting and the work we do. I love being part of a team and a cast. It’s a beautiful job and I know there are a lot of people in this industry who don’t get to work in it. People who look at these nights and think: ‘Is it possible for me to achieve that one day?’,” he continued. “I know you look at me and say: ‘she’s a nepo baby, that’s why she’s there’. I understand but the reality is that I am 64 years old and this is incredible.”
Behind this, the actress stopped to thank her co-star, Michelle Yeoh, and the characters they both played in this film, which has given them so many awards. Both interpreters already went viral after the Golden Globes Gala, for an image of Curtis celebrating Yeoh’s victory.
On this occasion, the supporting actress commented: “To all the Evelyns and Deirdres in the world: We love you, we see you, we feel you. We are you, we are together. God bless you. What a dream!”
The actress continues her career for the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, for which she is also a candidate for ‘Everything at once everywhere’.
