Sharon Stone has explained how she lost custody of her son when the judge asked her: “Do you know that your mother makes sex movies?”
Sharon Stonestar of the erotic thriller ‘Basic Instinct’, has recalled how his nudes in Paul Verhoeven’s controversial 1992 film cost him custody of your child.
‘Basic Instinct’co-starring with Michael Douglas (‘Ant-Man 3: Quantumania’) caused great controversy (and a great box office) in its time due to its scenes of sex and nudity, and turned Stone into an erotic myth thanks to the famous scene of his “uncrossing” of legs. A scene that the actress later denounced that she filmed deceived.
In an interview for the podcast “Table for Two with Bruce Bozzi”the actress also recounted that the sexual scenes of the film caused him to lose custody of his son older Roan Bronstein when he divorced his partner Phil Bronstein in 2004. Or, more than the nudes, the decision of a misogynistic and retrograde judge:
“I lost custody when The judge asked my son: ‘Did you know that your mother makes sex movies?’ It was complete abuse by the system to consider what kind of mother she was because I made that movie… People walk around naked on regular TV now… In my case it was maybe 16 seconds of possible nudity and I lost custody. I lost custody of my son.”
The actress has also revealed that this decision caused her to end up admitted to the Mayo Clinic with heart problems. “Sometimes we use the phrase ‘my heart broke’… It literally broke my heart“.
Fortunately, time made the story have a happy ending. Roan is now 22 years old and in 2019 she began the paperwork to recover the surname Stone from his mother.
