Kate Middleton appeared in public in an unexpected way. The wife of Prince William spent International Women’s Day at the training ground, where she met with the Irish Guards. For a visit to the military, she wore a camouflage jacket, skinny jeans, rough boots and a knitted hat.

During the exercises, the Princess of Wales patrolled the area with the soldiers and learned from the military to provide first aid to the wounded. Kate enthusiastically asked questions about the work of doctors in the army and independently applied a tourniquet to the leg of a “wounded soldier.” Lance Corporal Jody Newell, who taught the Princess of Wales how to give first aid, told reporters:

Surprisingly, Kate visited the training ground on International Women’s Day. So nice to have a woman as our colonel.

The visit to the military exercises was the first event of Kate Middleton in the title of Colonel of the Irish Guards. The post was previously held by her husband, Prince William.

Earlier, Kate Middleton visited the Oxford House nursing home in Slough, Berkshire. The 41-year-old Princess of Wales met with staff and guests and took part in local activities. During the visit, Kate learned more about the institution’s use of cutting-edge interactive technologies to stimulate and enrich everyday life. She also joined guests in making Pancake Day pancakes and then visited the home’s award-winning garden.
