Theater. Of course, Small, whom I have been serving faithfully for 40 years now.
The best or favorite of Ostrovsky’s works. And why?
“Guilty without guilt.” A dramatic fate, an interesting character for me of a strong woman who managed to overcome all adversity with dignity, not to lose herself and become a famous actress. At the end she gets her well-deserved reward — her child, the son she thought dead. This role was played by outstanding actresses of the Maly Theatre, including Maria Yermolova. I happened to take part in one of the evenings that we spend in the Sumbatov-Yuzhin Memorial Apartment, on our chamber platform, where I was able to touch this role.
What to expect from the Ostrovsky Festival?
Discovery of talents from different parts of Russia for the Moscow public. And the real holiday of the theater, the holiday of Ostrovsky — on all our stages during the week every day there will be several performances based on the plays of the beloved Alexander Nikolayevich.
Which of your many roles is closest to your real life?
Varya from Ostrovsky’s “Wild Woman”. This performance was staged in 1990 by Vitaly Solomin. And I played the main character in it — a mischievous, absolutely lively and sincere girl, open only to real feelings. The audience accepted and fell in love with this performance, and for me, my Varya finally opened the doors to the amazingly deep world of Ostrovsky’s female images.
What is your biggest unfulfilled dream yet?
I live in the present. I believe that everything I need will come to me. Wise books say: be content with what you have. And I think it’s right.
What is the most important character trait for an actor or actress?
Patience.
Where can you be met in Moscow if not at the Maly Theatre?
In the metro, in shops and at the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts.

What does theater give a person?
In the theater, the viewer experiences incomparable emotions, the theater makes it possible to remember the real one.
What are you proud of?
I rejoice and am proud of my native theater when I see the inscription on the poster opposite the names of the performances: “NO TICKETS”.
