Actor Lance Reddick, known for his role as Lieutenant Cedric Daniels in ‘The Wire’ and as the doorman of the Continental Hotel in the ‘John Wick’ action franchise, died on Friday (3/17). He was 60 years old.

According to TMZ, the actor’s body was found at his home in the Studio City area of ​​Los Angeles. And, as The Hollywood Reporter found out, the death was considered natural, but no further details were offered.

Lance Reddick was born on June 7, 1962 in the city of Baltimore in the US state of Maryland. He initially studied Music and only later dedicated himself to the theatre. His acting debut came in 1996 when he appeared in episodes of the series ‘New York Undercover’ and ‘Swift Justice’.

Other important roles were in the films “Great Expectations” (1998), by Alfonso Cuarón, “New York Under Siege” (1998), with Denzel Washington and Bruce Willis, and “Africa of My Dreams” (2000), with Kim Basinger .

In 2001, he began an 11-episode guest appearance on HBO’s ‘Oz’, a pioneering prison-set attraction, which helped establish him better. However, it wasn’t until the following year that Reddick broke out, playing one of the defining roles of his career – Lieutenant Cedric Daniels in “The Wire” – also known by his national title of “A Escuta”.

Created by David Simon, the series was groundbreaking in showing the war on drugs from both the police and drug dealers’ perspectives. Reddick appeared in a total of 60 episodes of the show between 2002 and 2008.

With the end of “The Wire”, Reddick began to show up in “Lost”, as a character related to the mystery of the plot, and soon changed to one of the main roles in the sci-fi series “Fringe” (2008-2013).
