YouTube restores Donald Trump’s account

YouTube has reinstated former US President Donald Trump’s account, who was banned from posting videos on the platform.

OR Youtube restored the account of the former president of the United States Donald Trump. The politician and businessman can now go back to posting content regularly and interacting with users, as long as they respect the platform rules to which all users are subject.

However, videos deleted upon ban do not need to be returned to the channel. The site suspended the upload of content on the tycoon’s channel after the controversy over the attack on the Capitol, the seat of government in the US country, in January 2021.

Trump has been accused of using his social media, including Youtube, to trigger violent acts that end in riots and deaths. so was he banned from Meta platforms (Instagram AND Facebook) Comes from Twitterof which he was prohibited from posting any material, as a way to stop inciting violent acts.

YouTube’s decision was reevaluated because the undemocratic acts would cease. The company reiterated that the billionaire will still be subject to the same user policies.

“We carefully weigh the ongoing risk of real-world violence while balancing the ability for voters to hear from key national candidates equally in the run-up to an election,” the platform said.

Trump has abandoned the big social networks

Trump seems to have been upset by the episode, as he never returned to social media, not even on services whose profile was restored. He now only uses the account on his platform, Social truthwhere he usually positions himself, does live and gives satisfaction to his followers.

While it appears to be something spontaneous, YouTube’s measure could be linked to a move by the US Congress. Republican lawmakers want to summon the CEOs of major tech companies to explain how they exercise content moderation.

There is a huge complaint from conservatives about the supposedly progressive stance of Google, Objective and other brands. These Big Techs are accused of censoring right-wing opinions as disinformation and hate speech.

Restoring Trump’s profile could be part of a strategy to demonstrate fairness, as well as try to defuse the political war. In Brazil, the situation is not much different, so the decisions made by the video platform can have some impact here.
