Jamie Lee Curtis pays tribute to her daughter on Trans Visibility Day in the United States

“I express myself in solidarity with my daughter.”

Oscar-winning star of ‘All at Once, Everywhere’, Jamie Lee Curtis, paid loving tribute to her daughter Ruby on Trans Awareness Day held in the United States on March 31.

The actress, who recently won an Oscar for her role in the “multi-universe martial arts family drama,” shared a photo of the two of them on her Instagram, writing:

Love is love. A mother’s love does not judge. As a mother, I stand in total solidarity with my children as they move through the universe as their authentic selves, with their own minds, bodies, and ideas. On this trans visibility day, my daughter and I are visible. #transvisibilityday.

Ruby came out as trans to her parents in 2020, and her mom has shown her support by condemning transphobia and officiating her cosplay-themed wedding last year. When she won her first Oscar last month, Curtis expressed her belief that award categories should eliminate gender to be more inclusive, if done correctly.

“As the mother of a trans daughter, I completely understand. In all areas, in all branches … we are not close to it yet,” she said (she stated via Entertainment Tonight).

By removing gender from the category, I’m also concerned that it will lessen opportunities for more women, which is something I’ve also been working hard to promote. So, it’s a complicated question, but I think the most important thing is inclusion and more women.

Last year we saw Curtis’ “final” performance as Laurie Strode in ‘Halloween Ends.’ Having first played the role of her over 40 years ago, filming her final scene was emotional for her.

It was very powerful for me. I cried. David (Gordon Green, the director) cried. We all recognized that moment, which was the end for Laurie Strode and me. And this community of artists that made these movies. It was an important moment.
