The earliest live recording of the legendary British band The Beatles, which is currently known, will be restored and donated “to the cultural institutions of the UK”. According to the authoritative music publication NME, the record was discovered in early April, almost 60 years after it was recorded.
That concert took place on April 4 at Stowe Private School in Buckinghamshire. On the recording, you can hear how the band members answer questions from school students and joke among themselves in between songs. The sound was recorded on a reel-to-reel tape recorder by John Bloomfield. He was 15 years old at that time. And so, during the recording of a special program on Radio 4 dedicated to that very concert, Bloomfield handed the recording to journalists.
According to music critic Samira Ahmed, the performance was unique. Only men were present in the hall, who, although they supported the musicians, did not drown out the songs themselves with cries of adoration. The set list included tracks from the album “Please Please Me”, which was released just two weeks before the show, on March 22, as well as several rare cover versions of songs in the rhythm and blues genre.

The band’s guitarist John Lennon died over 40 years ago, but his untimely death still haunts the minds of Liverpool Four fans. In a recent conversation with the Daily Mail, 80-year-old Paul McCartney remembered the day Lennon died and admitted that for years he could not talk about the tragedy, which became his personal grief. McCartney explained why the first time after the death of Lennon did not express feelings properly.
