Queen Maxima of the Netherlands celebrates her 51st birthday: a new portrait

Queen Maxima of the Netherlands turns 51 today. Last year, due to COVID-19 restrictions, Her Majesty’s Jubilee gala never took place, so this time she has every chance to celebrate the holiday in a big way. However, recently, at the end of April, the royal family of the Netherlands celebrated the 55th anniversary of Maxima’s husband, King Willem-Alexander. On this occasion, festive festivities took place throughout the country, the scale of which amazed even the Dutch themselves.

Today, in honor of the holiday, the press service of the palace published a new portrait of Her Majesty, made within the walls of the official residence. In the picture, the birthday girl poses in a dark blue dress with a brown pattern.

Note that Western media write about Queen Maxim an order of magnitude less than about the stars of the British monarchy – Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle – and even less often than about Queen Rania of Jordan or Queen Letizia of Spain. However, she deserves no less mention, especially thanks to her radiant smile and unique sense of style.

Maxima, who was born in Argentina, became Princess of the Netherlands on February 2, 2002, when she married Willem-Alexandra. She had been waiting for the title of queen consort for more than ten years – her husband’s coronation took place on April 30, 2013. During the years of waiting, Maxima gave her beloved three princesses: Katharina-Amalia, Alexia-Yuliana and Ariana Wilhemina.
