How did the series “A friend for an hour” appear in your life? Director Emil Nikoghosyan said that the line of your hero was expanded precisely because you play him – is that so?
The fact that I ended up in the series “Friend for an Hour” is the merit of Emil Nikoghosyan. We worked with him on the series “Ideal Family”, and before we also had joint projects, I like him as an author and as a person. Working with him is always very dynamic. In “A Friend for an Hour” Emil offered me a choice of several roles, and I chose the role of a doctor, not a very clean person.
Tell us more about your character. Judging by the first episode, he is glad that Shakurov’s hero is finally retiring…
He is a man with great ambitions, great demands, but little opportunity. He has few talents. He cannot be called a professional – my hero wanted to become the head physician, but without the help of the hero Sergei Shakurov, he does not succeed. In the process of developing the plot, you can see that he is a rather small person, a braggart and an upstart. But inside is quite vulnerable.

It seems that deep down your character suffers from loneliness. Why do you think, even now, with the popularity of psychotherapy and open conversations about their fears, people are ashamed of loneliness?
I would address this question to people who are ashamed of loneliness. In my opinion, they do it in vain. Sore spots need to be kneaded, and not think that the pain will go away on its own and avoid it. You need to talk about fears, about loneliness, and maybe in these conversations a cure will come.
Do you understand your hero that he hides his loneliness behind the mask of success?
Yes, this behavior is understandable.
Tell us about your work with Sergei Shakurov. This is not your first joint project, but in “Friend for an hour” you have a lot of joint scenes.
Shakurov is a legend! As a child, adolescence, I enjoyed watching films with him on TV, I was always interested in his personality. Therefore, I was happy to be on the same platform with him. I would love to work with Sergey Kayumovich again.
Are you familiar with the stories told in Hourly Friend in real life? Maybe you have heard about the existence of firms that offer the services of interlocutors and drinking companions.
I breathe very evenly to alcohol, and it seems to me that the existence of drinking companions for an hour is a very ironic story. But I admit that in the modern world, and especially in Russia, this may be relevant.

In the acting environment, friendship between people of very different ages is a common thing. Do you have friends much older or much younger than you? What does friendship with them give you?
Probably, I don’t have friends much older or much younger than me, somehow such relationships did not work out. But I know for sure for myself that the key to long-term creative potential lies in the feeling of your inner child, which you need to see, unearth among a pile of labels and concepts, as well as your own experience. You need to make friends with him and give him a new life. And then, if the inner child is alive and well, age will not matter. The main thing is that the person himself should be interesting.
Can you call yourself a friend to your daughters?
Yes, it is through friendship that I build relationships with my daughters. Through common interests, joint leisure, blood kinship. Friendship between children and parents consists of many things. With the eldest, Varvara, I do it well, with the youngest, Anya, probably, it will turn out a little later. I am sure that it is very important to be a friend to your children.
CDo you watch movies with your daughters?
Certainly! We gather at the dacha on Nikolina Gora, have dinner – in a cafe or at home – then we choose a film that everyone will like and watch. Great pastime. We watch “Guardians of the Galaxy”, different cartoons – “Wally”, “Ice Age”, “The Secret Life of Pets”. We love comedies with Jim Carrey, or the movie Groundhog Day. Just watched Shakespeare in Love.
You are starring in the movie “Breaking Head” by Evgeny Grigoriev, the synopsis of the film promises a new look at masculinity. What will the film be about?
It’s not easy for me to talk about what the film will be about, because the plot is forgotten after filming, and the premiere is still far away. And between filming, you have to read, chew and grind a lot of other material. But I can say that I respect and love Zhenya Grigoriev very much, as a professional and as a person. He and I shot a cool film “Accomplices”, with Zhenya I began to reveal a new role in myself, deeply dramatic. Therefore, I gladly accepted the offer to star in his new film “Headbreak” and play such an interesting and multifaceted character, a bank director. He is from the “new people”, I would call them “hacked” – people who live too consciously.
This is not the first time you have been filming with Grigoriev, a director who came to feature films from documentaries. How do you like his vision of cinema? Have you seen the film “About Rock”, which became a super hit in narrow circles?
Yes, I saw this movie, and it was interesting for me to look at both famous and young people through the lens of Zhenya. In general, his heroes are always united by the thirst for life, the search for themselves, the way out of the usual framework. In other words, the desire to fly.

In the summer, you wrote in your social networks how you celebrated your birthday in Taganrog. Did it happen by chance, or was it important for you to spend this day in your hometown?
For the last 4 years I have been spending my birthday in Taganrog, this is very important for me. This is my hometown, my house is located in the most beautiful, most picturesque place, and I invite my friends from Moscow, St. Petersburg and other cities there. Such holidays are held in a completely different way, not like in Moscow. Everyone relaxes, reveals their true faces, and we celebrate for three or four days – just like at a wedding. And, as my friends told me, I myself am completely different in Taganrog, not the same as in Moscow.
What do you remember most from your last trip to Taganrog?
The last time I was in Taganrog was on City Day. I have high enough hopes that life will get better there. Since childhood, I was sure that Taganrog is the coolest, most comfortable city in the Rostov region. And by the way, until 2014, life in it was totally lively, the port worked, smuggling flourished. And then the city became a dead end, and it seems that no one goes there anymore. But Taganrog gave me life, raised me, introduced me to friends. And I want to pay tribute to him. Recently, I became the face of the Rugby for Children charity organization, as well as the face of the Taganrog rugby team. In the spring, I want to spend a huge subbotnik in Taganrog, to arrange holidays more often. In general, I would like to integrate energy into my hometown.
