Igor Filgueiras, 30, the former model’s only son, died last year
Ângela Bismarchi has surprised fans by revealing that her only son, Igor Filgueiras, has passed away at the age of 30. The former model said the boy died a year ago after inhaling smoke during a fire in a hotel where he was staying, on January 20, 2022, in Rio de Janeiro.
“He had a fight with his father and, that night, he stayed in this hotel. I was very shaken by the loss of my son, but now I’m coping better. At no point have I been angry with God, because everything has a purpose. Very few people know about it, only family and closest friends,” he said in an interview with the magazine Who.
Angela said she felt comfortable just talking about her son’s death right now. “I didn’t want to use it for media and sensationalism. It was my time of suffering, so I kept it to myself,” she says.
Antônio Carlos Gonçalves was the result of her previous marriage to surgical technician Antônio Carlos Gonçalves. After the death of her son, Angela discovered she had a granddaughter. “I’ve already gone to get the DNA done, because she was born around the time he had the accident and passed away. So, I don’t see myself leaving Brazil, because I have what keeps me here, which is my studies and this baby,” she revealed.
The former model also spoke about her divorce from plastic surgeon Wagner de Moraes after 18 years. According to her, her ex-husband did not provide emotional support in the midst of mourning: “He was not a companion and supportive. On the contrary, he kicked the bucket and did not respect this extremely difficult time in a mother’s life. It is a loss that I don’t wish on anyone.”
