Courts reject Raphy Pina to leave prison before

Raphy Pina will not be released from prison before, as his partner, Natti Natasha, and their legal representatives expected to happen.

This bad news for the couple comes two months after it was announced that there was a chance that the time the producer would have to spend in prison could be reduced.

Raphy Pina will be jailed for more than three years

On April 17, El Nuevo Día reported that the Federal Court in San Juan, Puerto Rico decided to uphold the same sentence imposed on Rafael Antonio Pina Nieves, the artist’s real name.

Judge Francisco Besosa ruled that the promoter will also spend three years and five months in prison on the charge of illegal possession of a firearm.

Likewise, Daddy Yankee’s partner will have to pay a $150,000 fine and serve another three years of probation after leaving prison.

Puerto Rico’s legal team reported in January that a second charge against him, which involved possession of an incendiary device modified to fire automatically, was dropped.

However, in a motion, prosecutor María Montañez said the dismissal of the charge in question did not change “the basic level of offense” nor the “total level of offense” calculated at the time of the original decision.

“For that reason, regardless of the fact that the (federal) Court of Appeals in Boston reversed the conviction on count two of the statement,” the bills “remained at 20 (points in the sentencing guidelines),” he said.

In the face of this resolution, Pina’s lawyers argued that the sentence should be reduced due to the exclusion of the aforementioned charge.

They pointed out that the degree of offending was measured by the authorities at the sanction hearing when they “grouped counts one and two and determined the level of overall offending based on the grouped counts”.

After the second count was dismissed, they added, “the new range of sentencing guidelines will depend on the Court’s assessment of the single remaining count in light of all the factors presented by the prosecution and defense counsel.”

According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Rafi will leave the penitentiary for good on January 21, 2025.
