New Mexico State Attorney’s Office has dropped manslaughter charges against actor Alec Baldwin following the death of cameraman Galina Hutchins. The tragic incident occurred on the set of the film “Rust”. Prosecutors said that they became aware of new facts, so far not allowing them to initiate a criminal case.

We are pleased with the decision to drop the charges against Alec Baldwin and call for a thorough investigation into this tragic incident,” said lawyers Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro.

A similar charge was brought against the gunsmith of the film “Rust” Hannah Gutierrez-Reed. However, her criminal case after the review remained in force. The woman faces up to 18 months in prison and a $5,000 fine. Lawyers for Gutierrez-Rid said she did not intend to plead guilty in court.

We expect that at the end of the process, she will also be justified,” said representatives of the property owner.

Recall that Galina Hutchins died on October 21, 2021 on the set of the western Rust. Baldwin, who played the title role, shot her with a pistol. A woman died and director Joel Sousa was injured. According to the assistant director’s testimony, Baldwin was told that the gun contained no live rounds. The fact that the actor will be prosecuted under a criminal article for murder became known in January of this year. And recently, the Hutchins family filed a new lawsuit against the star and the film crew.

Later there was information that Alec Baldwin would soon return to work. The Hollywood actor was reported to continue production on the film in the spring. Several crew members will return to the project. Among them will be director Joel Sousa. Joining the work are security staff Gary Jensen and Paul Jordan from Tenet Production Safety and production designer Christine Brandt.
