Domitilla Barros participates in the meeting at the German Consulate

Former BBB Domitilla Barros was present this Tuesday (2/5) at the German consulate in Rio de Janeiro. During the meeting, the model spoke about her fight for social causes and strengthened ties with potential German partners.

In her presentation speech, Domitilla told the participants part of her life, emphasizing her activism. “Before I was born, my parents were already educating street children and children in situations of social vulnerability. So when I was born, I was born into the project,” said the model referring to the NGO CAMM, which has received hundreds of donations from fans of Amanda, Meirelles.

“At the age of 12, one of my best friends was murdered by the police in front of me and I started having that experience with violence very close,” Domitilla said. “And I decided to teach the children of the Linha de Tiro community to read and write through dance and theater, because since I was 7 I had been attending theater courses and in the theater I could be whoever I wanted: princess, scientist, not just a girl of the slums.”

This morning, before receiving the tribute, Domitilla told Extra newspaper that she was honored to have her activism recognized, as she has an “excellent relationship” with Brazil and Germany.

“It is an honor to receive this honour. I have always had a very good relationship with both countries. I was Miss Germany, the first black immigrant, and I have defended these values for many years. After so much work, it is great to be able to be alive to be able to reap the fruits. At home I always say, ‘I just want my flowers while I’m alive, I don’t want them when I die,'” she said between laughs.
