Last night, the 77-year-old father of the Duchess of Sussex, Thomas Markle, was hospitalized with a suspected severe stroke. Although Markle lives in Rosarito, Mexico, he was taken across the border by ambulance to the Chula Vista Clinic in California, just a few hours from Meghan, 40, and Prince Harry, 37, in Montecito. Note that this happened just a few days before Markle flew to London to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty’s reign.
It is not known whether Meghan Markle, who has long estranged from her father, plans to visit him at the clinic. So far, his children support him – Megan’s brother Thomas Jr. and her sister Samantha. Markle’s condition is satisfactory, but he cannot talk. Previously, the man had already been hospitalized in a hospital in Tijuana, Mexico – according to TMZ, he arrived there on a stretcher, accompanied by paramedics with an oxygen mask on his face.
Mr Markle’s current condition is unlikely to allow him to attend the celebrations on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Queen’s reign. However, as you know, he also missed the wedding of Megan and Harry due to health problems – then Markle was recovering from a heart attack.
Recall that the Sussexes have a difficult relationship with Thomas Markle. Once, without their knowledge, he sold photographs of the couple to the press. And most recently, he criticized his daughter and called Prince Harry. Mr Markle has previously chided the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for not taking the kids when they visited the Queen earlier this month ahead of the Invincible Games in The Hague, the Netherlands, calling the gesture “a slap in the face of Her Majesty.”
Back in March, Thomas Markle was also ready to take his daughter to court, defending her sister Samantha, who accuses Meghan of defamation, claiming that much of what she said in a resonant interview with Oprah Winfrey is a lie. Recall that in the spring, ex-US President Donald Trump also condemned the couple, offering to punish the spouses for disrespect for their own country. Trump believes the prince has “lost his way” and Her Majesty should be tougher on him.
